The Two-Week Review

Well, this is definitely more manageable: a few week's worth of work wrapped in one post with my commentary.  I'm thinking this will be my new "style" of blogging for a while.

I started out with a plain classy white.   Okay.  I WAS going to do some dot nail art, but I got busy playing with my lipstick.

This is one coat Sally Hansen (SH) White On.  I personally LOVE this polish's formula.  I have gotten mixed feelings when I post about White On on IG.  My bottle is absolutely perfect and I have no issues with it.  Some say their bottle's formula is lumpy like most other white polish; most agree with me though.  It's hit or miss and I suspect some bottles may be on the older side.

I have been having major polish block lately.  I feel like I have so many I want to use that I just get so flustered and can't decide.  A little saying popped in to my head one night - when in doubt, wear red.  Well thanks, self, I only have 17 reds to choose from!  I finally decided on China Glaze Hey Sailor because I was in a nauti mood I suppose.
ChG Hey Sailor
I did two coats Hey Sailor.  The formula is good.  Its kind of a crelly polish.  Not exactly opaque, not exactly jelly.

Next I have an couple indies!  First I have a thermo-linear polish from Cameo Colours Lacquers.  This is called Morning Dew.  Its a thermal polish that changes from lime green when warm to teal when cool.  And y'all know "linear" refers to ... (read with Oprah voice) ... HOLOOOO!
Cameo Colours Lacquers Morning Dew
Top - Warm; Bottom - Cold; Right - Transition
PS - Thermals are the lazy girl's ombre!!  This is a super fun polish to wear if you're in a pinch but want something...jazzy?  Yeah.  Jazzy.

I slapped on some Mod Lacquer 8-Bit Digits because...micro matte neon glitter goes with everything, duh!

I don't think I ever do very girly manis.  Girly in the sense of like pinks and flowery.  So I girl'd it up with two coats Essie Fiji with one coat Different Dimension Inner Goddess.

I really LOVED this look but had a big problem with the DD.  It was suuuuper thick and took forrrrevvvverrrr to dry.  My polish twinnie/bestie suggested thinner, but 1) I don't own any and 2) I think an indie brand should pay more attention to their products' quality.  I have no beef whatsoever with DD, I love the brand and have never had an issue before this particular polish.

Also this gorg mani lasted less than a day because housework is evil.

Now, who doesn't love some neon & holo???  I had seen this look floating around IG for a while and wanted to try it out forever.  I did a base of NOPI Make a Comet-Ment topped with Darling Diva I'm Fwee with an accent of Orly Passion Fruit.
Neon holo goodness

I went simple with some Julep Dianna from the June Boho Glam Maven box.  This is a OCW too!  In my opinion, Julep's formula has improved so much since I first signed up in September.  I just love this sea foamy mint color!

Still with me?  Almost done!

I don't know if I have ever expressed my intense lust after Emily de Molly's The Fifth Element on the blog before.  Besides Lime Crime Pastelchio (which I have ordered and am waiting to receive!!!), THIS was my main lemming.  I NEEDED this.  It was the holy grail of indie polish.  The most beautiful thing I had laid my eyes on.  A beautiful precious gem that needed to be mine.  Yes, I was obsessed.  Well.  Katie (@notjustnails on IG) sent it to me as a surprise.  It was originally just a polish loan if you will; I was supposed to send it back after I got to have this beauty on my nails.  BUT she was nice enough to actually GIVE it to me when she found a replacement.  I seriously died.  Enough rambling: here is two coats EDM The Fifth Element!
Emily de Molly The Fifth Element
LAST ONE!  A skittlette mani!  Now, I didn't do it exactly how you're supposed to (like ChitChatNails/@martawarmuz on IG), but close enough!!  I of course wanted more glitter.  I have been feeling very blah and empty lately and my polish twinnie/bestie had the idea a while ago for black vintage roses.  Seemed to fit my current mood; I took her idea and turned it into a red/dark/glitter rose mani.
Skittlette Dark Roses
Oy, I used so many polishes:
Pointer & Pinky: SH Cherry Red topped with Stardust Polish I'm Seeing Red
Da Bling Ring: Color Club Harp On It topped with ChG Make a Spectacle
Middle & Thumb (thumb not shown, but its there!!) - Base: Orly Naughty or Nice Roses: SH Grey Area, Cherry Red, Essie Chinchilly, SH White On & Essie Good as Gold

Different Dimension * You've Got A Friend in Me Set & Black Dahlia

A couple weeks ago I filled out a blogger survey for Different Dimension and prayed to the nail polish gods that I would be a lucky blogger that was chosen to review some of Missi's wonderful creations.  Looks like my polish voodoo worked!  haha I was sent the You've Got a Friend in Me set and Black Dahlia.

The You've Got a Friend in Me polish is obviously Toy Story inspired.  First I have a swatch of Reach For The Sky.  It has a yellow crelly base with small ruby hex and circle, medium yellow square, small and medium clear iridescent hex, and a ton of small clear iridescent shred glitters.  I layered two coats over one coat of Milani Yellow Whiz and sealed with Out The Door topcoat.

I'm not the biggest fan of yellow polish, but this one is definitely cute!  Great application.  There was tons of glitter on the brush each time.  I do wish there were a little more circle glitters.  I can't get enough of those!

Next is To Infinity and Beyond!  It's a clear based polish with TONS of glitters: white rectangle, medium purple and green holo hex, small green and purple holo hex, and large translucent neon green hex.  Oh yeah, and it glows!

Just OMG this polish is SO Buzz Lightyear lol I did two coats TI&B over one coat of Sally Hansen White On [which, as an aside, is my new favorite white polish!].  It would have been fine with just one coat; this polish is a complete glitter bomb.  I topped with OTD because it got a little gritty as it dried [I have found this is common with all glow polish].  Looks neat under a black light too, yenno, if you constantly have one-man raves at your house haha

And finally from the polish I was sent: Black Dahlia. I have to defer to the polsih listing to properly describe it: "a black leaning greyish purple scattered holographic polish with hints of different colors reflected in the light, it also has micro iridescent glitters in it. It looks amazing by itself or layered over other colors."
To steal my Nail Bestie Twin's word, this is a hologasm!!! It looks like a Color Club, the holo is THAT strong.  It's color-shifty between black and purple and charcoal grey.  The iridescent glitters change from green to purple to blue to yellow.  It's just pure ridiculousness in the best possible way!  Sorry for the flood of pictures, it just looks different in every light and angle.

I did two coats Black Dahlia, no undies, and topped with Seche Vite.  I really am speechless about this polish!  I originally thought I would have to layer it over black, but it was just perfect on its own.  Smooth formula; it took a while longer than I care to let it dry [Queen of Impatience], but SV fixed that problem.

Go check out Different Dimension online and get you some amazing indie polish!  Fun Fact: Social Suicide by DD kicked off my indie addiction!

Swatch Tuesday! Different Dimension * Curiosity

Guys!  You remember my first #HOLYSHITBALLZANDGLITTER!!! post with Black Cat Lacquer Doomsday?  Well, Different Dimension Curiosity is it's cousin.  This polish has a black jelly base with TONS of small and large silver holo hex glitters.

I did two coats Different Dimension Curiosity over one coat Sally Hansen Onyx.  It was surprisingly hard to get the large hex glitters out.  Had to do a lot of shaking, rolling and fishing.  Other than that, the application was great.  Dry time wasn't too bad either.

Sorry for the ridculously short post loves, but I’m trying to figure out my new computer and its NOT going well…I’m technologically-retarded and switching from a regular computer to a Mac is kicking my ass (as far as the picture uploads go), but hopefully I’ll get the hang of it soon!

Swatch Tuesday! Different Dimension * Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock

I decided I’d give you a break from my Wicked Polish obsession – even though I got Pink Eye and Pox in the mail the other day!!  I figure I’ll swatch the rest all at once and condense it into one post because I have SO many untrieds and I don’t want to annoy y’all.  But if you’re annoyed by it, you should probably just leave.  Now.  ;P  Anywho, I’m rambling.  On to the swatch!  And look.  It’s blue!!

I’ve had Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock by Different Dimension for a while (and from now on, I’m going to call it “RPSLS” because ain’t nobody got time to type all that out!).  I picked it up when they were having a great sale - $5 for almost all polishes.  This polish is jam packed with so much glitter!  There is silver, white, baby blue, and translucent light green hex glitter along with micro white squares in a blue tinted base.  I layered two thin coats RPSLS over two coats of Sinful Colors Cinderella.

Let’s talk about Cinderella first.  You kinda get two swatches in one!  Whee!
Two coats Sinful Colors Cinderella
Cinderella is a light blue translucent polish with a pink/sliver shimmer.  It was thin and gloopy at the same time.  Sounds weird, but if you have it, maybe you know what I’m talking about.  I’ll try to explain.  It was thin and streaky, I could have definitely used three coats if I was leaving it plain.  But at the same time it was gloopy because it ran to the tip of my nail and globbed  up.  So there.  Thin but gloopy.  A girl on IG suggested using white as a basecoat (you go @teijas_nails !) and I will most definitely do that when I use it again.

Okay now to the main attraction: Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock.
Two coats SC Cinderella two coats Different Dimension
Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock
Look at all the glittahhh!  I had no real application issues.  It got a little thick on my pointer because I didn’t get enough excess polish off the brush, but you can’t really have an excess of glitter, soooo yeah!  ;)  You can see on my thumb the blue tint to the base (there are no undies).
