You’ll Need:

Ginger Ale

Cran-Apple Juice

Captain Morgan Spiced Rum

Ice

Make It!

Cup.  Ice.  One part Captain, three parts each Ginger Ale and Cran-Apple.

Wasted Wednesday! Swervin' Mervin

To all you lucky bitches that DON'T have to work on this lovely day after Christmas, please enjoy one or seven of these for me!

To make a Swervin' Mervin,
You'll Need:
1/4 oz. Rum
1/4 oz. Gin
1/4 oz. Vodka
1/4 oz. Triple Sec
1/4 oz. Midori Melon Liqueur
OJ
Pineapple Juice
Grenadine
Ice

Make It!
In a shaker glass, combine all ingredients.  Shake well and serve over ice.  Enjoy!

Holy hell!  This posting every day really got me all confused with my days.  I have no idea why.  But I sure am thankful to be going back to three posts a week...possibly.  I may or may not have special shot recipes for New Year's hidden up my sleeve... muahahahahaa!! ;)

12 Days of Christmas Cocktails! Day 9: White Chocolate Rum Shake

To make a White Chocolate Rum Shake,

You'll Need:

1 cup Milk

1 1/2 cups Fresh Mint Leaves

2 cups White Chocolate Chips

1 quart Vanilla Ice Cream

1/2 cup White Rum

Whipped Cream

Sprinkles

4 Candy Canes

Make It!

In a blender, mix milk and mint on high speed for about 1 minute.  Transfer to a saucepan and warm over medium heat, stirring occasionally for 5 minutes.  Add the white chocolate chips and stir until melted.  Refrigerate until chilled.  In a blender (in batches) combine the chocolate mixture with the ice cream and rum.  Serve in glasses with whipped cream, sprinkles and candy canes.

Baileys Cherry Cafe and Two Holo Polishes

Hello Lovelies!  Today I have a yummy Baileys drink and a two-fer of some awesome holo polish for you! :)

To make a Baileys Cherry Cafe,
You'll Need:
2 oz. Baileys with a hint of Coffee
1/2 oz. Captain Morgan
Dash Maraschino Cherry Juice
Cinnamon & Sugar (rim)

Make It!
Rim a martini glass with cinnamon sugar.  Drizzle the cherry juice into the glass.  Shake Baileys and Captain in a shaker with ice.  Strain into glass.  YUM!!

Base Coat Experiment, Liquid Sky Lacquer Give Me Some Sugar, and Cameo Colours Lacquers Smoldering Temptress

I am super excited about these polishes.  They are my first “real” holos that I have ever bought.  And let me tell you, they won’t be the last!!  But first!  I’m going to share my little experiment with you.  

Seche Clear or Gelous: Which is a better base coat?

As you know, I am not a fan of Seche Clear (the base coat, I am not talking about Seche Vite, the top coat!).  I bought some Gelous a week or so back because I had seen some people using it and wanted to see what the fuss was about.

I used Seche Clear on my right and Gelous on my left.  Seche Clear dried quickly, while Gelous stayed gummy for about ten minutes before fully drying. 

After the base coats, I applied two coats of Liquid  Sky Lacquer Give Me Some Sugar.  This stuff is PACKED with super fine glitter, like the sandy kind.  That stuff NEVER chips.  After applying LSL, I let it dry and added two coats of Seche Vite (the top coat) to both hands.  Surprisingly it dried supa fast.  Strange, because in my last post about it, it took ages.  I guess the glitter soaked it up?  No tellin’.

Anywho, I went about my normal Saturday business after I did my nails, which isn’t much really…just playing with my Chihuahua, Sugar, and watching TV pretty much.  When I woke up in the morning, I checked out my nails.  Would you believe my right hand (Seche Clear) had TWO chips already?!  After LESS than a day, I had a chip on my middle and pinkie fingers.  W…T..F..?! 

In conclusion:  If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. 

*Seche Clear still sucks,

*Gelous made it even harder to get the glitter off (I used the foil method discussed in this post), and

*I am reverting to my O.P.I. strengthening base coat that I used to use with every mani. 

I had fully intended on posting only about LSL, but since it chipped in a day (totally the fault of the base, because my Gelous hand was just fine), I had to redo my mani…I would have gone crazy with chipped polish for a whole week.  I didn’t think it was fair to skip over the polish just because the base sucked, so y’all get a two-fer this week! :)

I saw this polish on Carolyn’s IG (@WhimsicalColor).  She said it was very limited edition and may be discontinued.  So I panicked and just HAD to go buy it.  (Following indie polish makers on IG + the Etsy app on your phone = dangerous.  You will be broke within a week.  I know.  lol)  But lucky for you, I believe she as restocked it. 

As stated above, this polish is packed with super fine glitter of a few different colors.  The description on Etsy says “burgundy”, but when it’s on, it looks more lilac or light purple to me.  I tried staring at it to figure out all the colors, but it wigs out my eyes.  Anyways, there are tons of silver holo glitters and some red/burgundy also, I don’t know where I get the purple.  Be warned, it is very thick and somewhat difficult to apply.  But deal with it guys, because it’s like a fckn disco ball on your nails!!  I was putting it on outside in the “Nail Studio” (aka my driveway lol) where it was cloudy out.  I was a little disappointed that is wasn’t BAM-in-your-face-holo-shiny.  Well, I got inside under direct light, and WOW!  It was awesome!

I definitely recommend a topcoat or two with this because it is gritty when dry.

Cameo Colours Lacquers Smoldering Temptress

I also saw this polish on IG, but in a post from @LacquerLoon (she makes me want to buy EVERY polish she swatches!).  Smoldering Temptress is what you call a "linear" holographic polish, as opposed to "scattered" (Give Me Some Sugar is considered scattered).  I never knew there was a difference, but its pretty obvious when you see the pictures.

Smoldering Temptress is a violet red jelly base with holo-y goodness.  I did one coat Essie A List with two coats Cameo Colours Lacquers Smoldering Temptress with one coat Revlon fast dry top coat.  I had no application issues, but it did take a while to dry, even with the top coat.

12 Days of Christmas Cocktails! Day 8: Santa Hat Cocktail

To make a Santa Hat Cocktail,
You'll Need:
3 oz. Cranberry Juice
1 oz. Coconut Rum
1/2 oz. Grenadine
Ice
Powdered Sugar (rim)
1 tsp. Water (rim)
Coconut Flakes (rim)
Mini Candy Cane

Make It! 
Mix sugar and water together on a plate.  Dip the glass in the sugar then coconut flakes.  Add the cranberry, rum, and grenadine in a shaker with ice.  Shake and strain into the glass.  Garnish with a candy cane.

Wasted Wednesday! The Finnely

Half way to the weekend!  I definitely thought today was Friday, so sorry for the ridiculously short post!!  NOT awesome -__-  Anywho, here's your drink!  Not sure what kinda name this is (I found it in an app), but it sure sounds yummy!!

1 ½ oz. Light Rum

2 oz. Dark Rum

1 oz. Pineapple Juice

1 oz. Grapefruit Juice

2 oz. Orange Juice

Cup.  Ice.  Rum.  Juice.  Drank!

Thanksgiving Week: Day 7 - Apple 151

HALLELUJAH!!  Are they gone!?  Enjoy all the mess you have to clean up!  Ehh, it won't be so bad after a couple of these.

You'll Need:

Apple Juice

Bacardi 151

Ice

Make It!

Cup.  Ice.  Two parts apple juice to one part rum.  

Now go decorate that Christmas tree!  I'll finally allow it :)

Thanksgiving Week: Drink 4 - On The Deck

Ahh jeez.  It's Wednesday.  You probably picked up the fam and are prepping all the dishes for tomorrow.  Get hammerfied and enjoy their company!

Thanksgiving Week: Drink 2 - Ocean Drive

Alrighty, it's Monday.  Are you grocery shopping for all the fixins yet?  If you were, I'm sure the store was packed and probably out of your key ingredients for your famous sweet potato pie.  Make one of these as a reward for not strangling someone!

Cup.  Ice.  Glugs of Malibu and Curacao.  Splashes of juice.

Wasted Wednesday! Bermuda Triangle

Welcome back to another installment of Wasted Wednesday! :)

To make a Bermuda Triangle,

You'll Need:

1 oz. Peach Schnapps

1/2 oz. Spiced Rum (I love Sailor Jerry or Kraken)

3 oz. OJ

Ice

Make It! 

Pour over ice in an old fashioned glass.

Again, this is not my recipe or photo (I just added the cool name & my tags), I got it from the app Mixology :)

Glitter Polish Removal!! [Also a Drink and Manicure]

Have you ever seen that e-card that says something about “men will never know the agony of childbirth, cramps, or taking off glitter nail polish”?  Well, we can cross off the polish part now.  They’re still pretty lucky though…

Like most of my horribly terrific (horrifically terrible? terribly horrific?) ideas, I saw this on Pinterest.  I have also seen some of my IG girls post pictures of their “alien fingers”.  I always wanted to know if it worked.  I’ll tell you right now…YES!!  Holy hell! I don’t know why I waited so long to try this!

Take a sheet of tinfoil and divvy it up into ten strips.  Soak a cotton ball in polish remover (I use the non-acetone kind because remover dries out my skin enough as it is) and place it on your nail.  Wrap in tinfoil.  I did one hand at a time because it got hard to maneuver the foil with one hand.  I don’t know, you can try it and see if you’re more skilled than me. 

Sit for five minutes and contemplate life or whatever. 

After five minutes, slide the foil off.  It’s like magic guys!!  It took me ONE COTTON BALL to get the remaining glitter off ALL FIVE of my nails.  So, instead of using 20 cotton balls on one hand like I usually do, I used SIX!!  WHAT?!!  Again.  *~*~*MAGIC*~*~*

Okay, okay.  On to the alcohol.  I’ve been making this drink foreverrrrrrr.  I love it.  Bacardi Big Apple and Ginger Ale.

You’ll Need:

Three ingredients.  Bam.  Done.  Wanna guess what they are??

Bacardi Big Apple

Ginger Ale

Ice

Make It!

Glug, glug, glug - rum, add ice, fill with ginger ale.  Uhhh yum?!

Essie Playa Del Platinum and ZOYA Jancyn

Welp, as you saw on Tuesday’s post, my original manicure for this weekend’s post sucked…hard.  There was no way I was going to leave my nails lookin’ like a hot mess.

I wanted to use the Playa Del Platinum because it’s a super cute nude color.  I work in a law office, so sometimes I feel the need to wear “normal” nail colors.  When I do crazy ones I always get weird looks on the elevator.  Jerks! lol  This polish is really similar to Essie’s Sand Tropez.  So, if you have that color, I wouldn’t bother buying this one also.  Maybe I’ll do a side-by-side comparison one day…I have a lot of colors that are very similar to each other.

I did two coats of Essie Playa Del Platinum and three coats of ZOYA Jancyn on the accent nail - no topcoat as usual.  I think I could have done with another coat of the Essie.  There were a few bald spots, but nothing too noticeable.  I don’t know why I keep buying ZOYA.  Well, okay, I do – the colors are soooo pretty!  BUT I honestly can’t stand the polish formula.  AT.  ALL.  With three coats there were still bald spots and you could see the brushstrokes (pictured above).  So annoying!!  However, the ZOYA didn’t chip off at all, while I had a few chips on the Essie.

Summer Fun! Mojitos and Cotton Candy Nails

Wheeeee for the weekend!  And its OFFICIALLY summer (not technically here in Florida, cuz let’s be real – it’s ALWAYS summer here).  It was suggested that I post a mojito recipe.  What better time to give it to you than the first weekend of summer!?  Here is my friend’s recipe (thank you, Danny) and my own recipe. 

For Danny’s Cuban Mojito (he uses REAL measurements – WTF?)

You’ll Need:

•  2 oz. Light Rum (Matusalem Platino)
• 8-10 Mint Leaves
• 1 oz. Simple Syrup
• 1 oz. Fresh Lime Juice – keep the leftover lime for garnish
• 2 oz. Soda Water
• Crushed Ice

Make It!

Place mint in a glass along with simple syrup and lime juice, muddle gently.  Slice the remainder of the lime and add along with crushed ice.  Add rum and soda water.  Stir – don’t shake.  Garnish with sprig of mint.  Enjoy.

For My Extra Sweet “Gringa” Mojito

You’ll Need:

• Light Rum (I like to use Bacardi Limon or Bacardi Dragon Berry)
• 8-10 Mint Leaves
• Lime Juice
• Sprite
• Ice

Make It!

Pretty much the same as above – Muddle the mint and lime.  Add a few glugs of rum, Sprite and ice.  Stir it up, drink it up, and relax.  I don’t mess around with the garnish of mint and lime.  I usually strain the muddled leaves out anyways since I always seem to forget they’re in the glass and choke on them.  Haha =\

I’ve mentioned before, I LOVE sweet drinks.  So if you’re more traditional, you should most definitely go with Danny’s Mojito.  I was never a fan of soda water, so I always used Sprite instead.  SO GOOD GUYS!  And if you’ve never tried the Bacardi Dragon  Berry…get to a store now and buy some!  It’s strawberry flavored.  Delish.  Adds more flavor to a plain mojito.  It’s also great in Ginger Ale and Coke.  BUT you don’t have to get all fancy with the flavored rum.  Plain Bacardi works perfect too.  Or whatever you want, I don’t care.  Sorry, no picture this time because it only looks like a glass of Sprite - boring.

Fun Cotton Candy Nails

I really wanted to quit boring y’all with my blue polish obsession so I went with something more girly.  I went to the store looking for some nice bright summery colors and stumbled on this gorgeous bubblegum pink Essie that was on sale.  Duh, I had to get it!  Then I was all ohh hey look at this cutie blue too!  I couldn’t help myself and threw in a blue pedi.  So be warned: my gross toes are pictured below!!

I used two coats of Essie Cascade Cool on four nails and two coats of Sinful Colors Snow Me White for my accent nail.  This was a girly enough mani, but I wanted to make it even more fun.  I bought this dotting tool from Sally Beauty a month or so back and was finally brave enough to try it out.  I dotted on (took me like, four tries – SO annoying!  My hands kept shaking) Essie Bikini So Teeny and Cool Cascade in a little sort of half moon shape.  I did the same on my toes but switched the colors as seen below.  It reminded me of cotton candy, hence the post name. :)

I didn't even realize, but the Bikini So Teeny has cute little sparkles in it!

Of course, Essie is my favorite brand, so I don’t have any complaints about how the polish went on, no chips, no bubbles, blah blah.  The Sinful Colors got some little cracks, but didn’t start to chip off until Thursday.  I didn’t even put a topcoat on.
