Cup, ice, a shot each of vodka, curaçao, & schnapps.  Top with Sprite.  I can't wait to make this!  Sadly, my whole liquor cabinet is still at my parents' house.  All I have at the moment is wine booooo! lol

Holo Gradient Mani
I have seen girls on IG do a holo gradient, but I could never see the color differentiation.  I decided to do two colors that would have no problem showing up.  I used two coats Color Club Kismet [Spring 2013 collex] as the base.  I used Over the Moon as the gradient color.  I love how it turned out!  I'll post sunlight pics at a later time because there's no sun out now.  My quick gradient tutorial can be found here.

Make It!
In a shaker glass, combine all ingredients.  Shake well and serve over ice.  Enjoy!

10 parts Kahlua Mocha
5 parts Absolut Vanilla Vodka
20 parts Eggnog

Combine ingredients and serve in a punch bowl with a floating ice block.

12 Days of Christmas Cocktails! Day 2: Pomegranate Key Lime Cocktail

To make a Pomegranate Key Lime Cocktail,
You'll Need:

• 1/4 cup Sugar
• 1/4 cup water
• 1/4 cup club soda
• 1 cup Unsweetened Pomegranate Juice
• 1/2 cup Vodka
• 3 tablespoons Key Lime Juice
• Ice
• Key Lime Slices (garnish)

Make It!

1. Combine sugar and 1/4 cup water in a small saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat, and simmer 2 minutes or just until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat; cool.
2. Combine sugar syrup, club soda, pomegranate juice, vodka, and lime juice. Place crushed ice in a martini shaker; add about 3/4 cup pomegranate mixture. Cover and shake. Strain into a glass. Garnish with lime slice, if desired. Repeat procedure with remaining pomegranate mixture.

Brain Eraser and Leopard Nail Art

Well, another week is almost over!  Today I have a drink called a Brain Eraser, which you will probably need if you go out and brave the malls this weekend.  Also I have some freehand leopard print nail art that I am super proud of!

You’ll Need:

1 oz. Goldschlager

1 oz. Kahlua

1 oz. Vodka

Make It!

In a large shot glass, combine ingredients.  The recipe says to keep the liqueur levels separate (aka pour them slowly to avoid mixing), and suck it up through a straw.  But no thanks,  I’ll just chug it all at once!

Freehand Leopard Nail Art with China Glaze Secret Peri-Wink-Le and Re-Fresh Mint

Let me just start out by saying I was never a huge fan of China Glaze’s polish.  Love their colors, but the first one I ever bought (For Audrey) absolutely SUCKED!!  The formula was so globby and it took forever to dry.  Apparently I got a bad bottle because everyone else raves about it.  Anyways, I have since bought more polish from China Glaze and the formula isn’t so bad.  I think Secret Peri-Wink-Le has restored my faith in the brand!  This stuff is perfect and a one coat wonder, even though I added another.  There was no bubbling, it was the perfect consistency – just ahhh!  The color is so adorable too; it’s a darker pastel blurple (blue + purple if you missed it before).  Re-Fresh Mint is also a great polish.  Almost a one coat wonder.  It was just a tad streaky, so I added a second coat. 

Y’all know that I really want to attempt to improve my nail art so I don’t bore you guys and my IG followers, so here!  Be nice if you don’t think it’s good.  It’s my first try at freehand animal print!!  I am personally thrilled with it though, so poo poo if you don’t like it.  I got my inspiration form a girl I follow on IG (@noemihk), she does a lot of freehand leopard print designs and makes it look so easy and flawless!  I need lots of practice though!

I did two coats Secret Peri-Wink-Le and two coats Re-Fresh Mint.  I used my large dotting tool to make the colored dots.  Then I used a medium sized one to make the black dots (using Sally Hansen Onyx).  Then I filled in the empty spaces with random dots using my tiny dotting tool.  I bought my dotting tools on Amazon for about five bucks – not including shipping.  There are five and they are double sided ranging in sizes from large to mini.  Great deal if you ask me.

Since this post is kind of about redemption for brands I don’t like, let’s discuss Seche.  Before, I bought the Seche Clear Base Coat.  Completely hated it (also used it with For Audrey in my Tiffany’s Nails post – that was just a bad polish day I guess).  It made the polish peel off my nail in one big sheet within a day or two of wear.  Great for glitter, but normal polish?  No.

I was hesitant to buy Seche Vite, the topcoat, but I finally gave in because EVERYONE praises it.  Peer pressure!  lol I normally avoid topcoats because I’m super impatient and always smudge it.  But this time, I just decided to go for it.  What a complete shocker!  A topcoat that I love??!  This stuff is great!  It’s smooth, thick (in a good way), and makes your nails look flawless, almost shellacked!  Although I have two teensy issues with it.  It’s supposed to be fast dry, but it was still kind of gummy after about five minutes (that’s the “fast” cutoff dry time for me).  It also smells.  BAD!! But you know what, I’ll deal with it because it looks that great.  When I dotted the design on , it was slightly raised and bumpy obviously, but after the Seche, completely smooth.  So, if you were like me and just kinda ehh about trying it, I HIGHLY suggest you stop dragging your feet and go get some!!  Not the base coat though.  That shiz suxxx!

Add ingredients into a shaker with ice.  Shake and strain into a cocktail glass.  Garnish with cherries!

Thanksgiving Week: Drink 1 - Cucumber Ginger Martini

Okay!  Thanksgiving is almost here!  As you do your first round of tidying up the house, have one, or five of these babies!

You'll Need:

4 oz Cucumber Vodka (I have the Skinny Girl brand I found at Total Wine, very good!)

1 oz Canton Ginger Liqueur (I have no clue what this is!  I'm sure Total Wine would have it, but if you can't find it, substitute something like Cointreau - you're only using it for the alcohol anyway! ;P)

1 oz Ginger Ale

Make It!

Chill the ingredients and stir together.  Pour into a chilled cocktail glass.  Enjoy :)

Cake Jell-O Shots and Chaos & Crocodiles “Underwater Treasure”

Woohoo another week almost over!  I’ve got a cake vodka Jell-O shot recipe and an awesome indie polish to show y’all.

Now, I didn’t actually make these Jell-O shots, because, like most people, I have had prior terrible experiences with them.  **Flashback to Peanut Island on the boat taking about six Jell-O shots then drinking anything I could get my hands on in the span of about 30 minutes.  Those things hit like a ton of bricks…it was a very long day and night, we’ll just leave it at that.**  Anywho, my IG friend Brianna texts me during the Alabama college football games and tells me to take shots with her every time Alabama gets a TD (since I usually can’t get the game on my TV).  Well, the first time, plain shots didn’t get her hammerfied enough, so she asked me to post a Jell-O shot recipe made with cake vodka.  I went to Pinterest and this is the simplest recipe I came across.  The link to the blog where I got the recipe can be found here, or I just copied and pasted for you below.

You’ll Need:

2/3 cup cream soda

2/3 cup cranberry juice cocktail

1 tbsp heavy cream

2 envelopes plain gelatin*

2/3 cup cake-flavored vodka

Few drops food coloring, if desired

Whipped cream - fresh or store-bought

Sprinkles for garnish

Make It!

Lightly spray the mold with non-stick spray and wipe excess off with a paper towel.  Don't overdo it or the residue will affect the taste of the Jell-O.**  Pour the soda, juice, and cream into a medium saucepan and sprinkle the gelatin on top. Allow the gelatin to soak for 2-3 minutes, then begin to heat on low, stirring constantly until gelatin is fully dissolved (about 5 minutes).  Remove saucepan from heat and add vodka and food coloring.  Pour into molds and chill for several hours, or until set.  Remove from mold, top with whipped cream, and enjoy responsibly!

*The original recipe suggests 2-3 envelopes, depending on how long your Jell-O shots will be left out (more gelatin for more time).

**Her instructions call for those silicone molds that look like cupcakes.  You can use whatever you normally do for Jell-O shots, they just won’t be as cute as her pictures.

Lovely Miss B used only vodka as her liquid and some food coloring.  We strongly advise against this.  In her words:“Very important note to self: use another liquid besides JUST vodka next time.  Jell-O shots should NOT require a chaser”.

Chaos & Crocodlies Underwater Treasure over Revlon Royal

AHH!  This!!  There is so much to look at in this polish!  Little dark and light blue, green, teal, orange and red hex glitter, smaller light blue square, and of course the big round gold meant to look like treasure!  You see something different every time you look at it.  I thought Revlon Royal was a good base color ("undies").  I used two coats of undies and two coats of Underwater Treasure, then two coats of clear - so.much.dry.timeeeee!!  Even with my drying drops.  But I'm the dummy that didn't let each coat dry in between.  I could have gotten away with one coat of the glitter, but as we all know, more glitter = better!! So I slapped a second coat on.  I had no application issues.  It was a little gritty feeling, so that's why I put two coats of clear on, but after that it was nearly perfect.  

This polish was $10.50 a bottle - YIKESSS!  But again, totally worth the money.  Other full size bottles go for $9.75 and minis $4.75.

Awesomesauceballz!  Love love love!  I also ordered Haunted Attraction from Chaos & Crocodiles.  I can't wait til it's October so I can wear it out! :)

Blue Lemonade and Essie “Armed and Ready”

Hellooooo!  How was everyone’s week?  Glad it’s Friday.  Have I got a yummy (and pretty) drink for you this weekend!  Also, I can tell this Essie is going to be a great Fall color.

You’ll Need:

Vodka

Blue Curacao (I use Mr. Stacks from Total Wine – on sale for $6.99 for 750mL!  That's also where I got my Melon Liqueur & Peach Schnapps for the same price. Had to get stocked up!)

Lemonade (if you haven’t tried the Simply Lemonade yet, I totally recommend it)

Ice

Make it!

Handful of ice in the cup, two parts vodka to one part curacao, fill the rest with lemonade.  IT’S SO PRETTYYYYY!  And tasty!

Essie Armed and Ready with Good as Gold Nail Art

As everyone knows by now, I am obsessed with Essie.  This color adds to my love for the brand.  It’s a dark woodsy olive-ish green with slight gold/bronze/copper shimmer.  Very military-esque.  Lahhh-uhvvvv!  I debated with myself for a while before I actually bought it, but boy I’m glad I finally did.   The first coat was pretty streaky, but by the second coat it looked great.  No streaks or bald spots anywhere.

While I was picking up my giveaway polishes and goodies, I broke down and bought Essie’s Good as Gold too.  I don’t know why I did, because I think gold nails are tacky, but I guess I can use it for stamping and stuff – or for a little accent like I did here!  I was going to paint little red or neon pink hearts over Armed and Ready, but I decided the color was too dark and the red wouldn’t show very well.  Also, pink would have looked weird over it in my opinion.  So, ding ding ding – gold was the winner.

I used my dotting tool to make two dots (the top of the heart) and then just connected them with a ‘v’ using the dotting tool as well.  I thought the polish was dry enough after like ten minutes, but of course it wasn’t.  So the heart looks a little globby and lumpy, but ehh its cute anyways.

Bear with me for the next couple weeks while I grow out my nails.  I have kept my nails short for a long time and I finally want to grow them out a bit.  I’m trying to file them in to a square, but the look semi-retarded this week (and probably will for next week too).  I actually broke one in the middle of the week and had to laugh at myself for saying - out loud - AHH I BROKE A NAIL!  lol

Homemade Pickle Vodka and Revlon “Royal”

Happy Weekend!! FINALLY!  I woke up on Tuesday thinking it was Thursday and was all excited that it was the almost-weekend…worst feeling ever!  I’ve actually been doing that a lot lately.  But nobody cares!  On to the good stuff!

Yes, that says “Homemade PICKLE Vodka”.  I know a lot of you (if anyone actually reads this thing) are gonna be all ew gross pickle?! but too bad!  I love pickles, I love vodka.  It’s a natural combination.  There’s this brand of vodka called Naked Jay that sells pickle flavored vodka.  I looked and looked at every liquor store I could find and NO ONE has it (not even Total Wine).  I went as far as to tweet to their account on Twitter and they informed me, sadly, that they do not sell in Florida…YET!  SO, in the meantime I had to get myself a recipe to make that shit!  I really wish I still had the website/blog whatever where I got it so I could give them a shout out, but I don’t.  So, disclaimer: this isn’t my recipe and I didn’t make it up!

You’ll Need:

• 750 mL Vodka (they recommended a higher end brand because cheap vodka may affect the end taste – I bought Smirnoff)
• 2 Cucumbers
• 6 Cloves of Garlic
• Dill (they didn't say how much so I bought a bunch in a package from Wal-Mart and used the whole bunch)
• 1 Jalapeno
• Some sort of container with a seal to keep it in (I got like a lemonade/tea pitcher with the spout thing on the bottom..?  Yeah, I don’t know what it’s called – there’s a picture so you know what I’m talking about)

Make It!

Cut up the cucumbers into ½ inch slices, peel the garlic cloves but leave them whole*, take the stems off the dill, slice the jalapeno into quarters**.  Put all ingredients in the container then pour in the vodka.  Let it sit for 3-4 days and then make yourself a damn Bloody Mary for having such patience!!

*I smashed a few of the garlic cloves a little with the back of a knife to make it more garlic-y tasting.

**If you don’t like really spicy stuff, take the seeds and junk out of the middle of the pepper – that’s where the spice comes from.  I left everything in and it’s not THAT spicy.  Don’t forget to wash your hands and not touch your eyes/face after cutting it!

Like I said, make a Bloody Mary with this (recipe on my “The Classics” post).  I don’t know what you could possibly drink pickle vodka with and I’m not about to try mixing it with anything else!  I kinda tweaked the Bloody Mary recipe because I thought the vodka would have turned spicier than it actually was. 

Here’s how I made my Pickle Bloody Mary:

Start with the Pickle Vodka, 3 dashes What’s-This-Here Sauce, Lemon Pepper Seasoning (only a little because the jalapeno adds some peppery taste).  Then fill the cup with ice, add V8 & Clamato juice, top it off with more lemon than usual.  Drank it up!

This stuff really does taste a lot like pickles guys!  I added more lemon than normal because you don’t get the vinegary bite since, duh, there’s no vinegar added in it.  Otherwise, it’s a fuckin’ liquid pickle!  Amazeballs!  I guess you can just leave it out on the counter.  That’s what I’ve been doing.  I’m pretty sure the vodka will kill any bacteria.  But, if I turn up dead in a few weeks we can blame it on me ingesting some weird pickle-vodka-mold-fungus-grossness.  I will probably move it to the fridge soon – just in case.

Revlon Royal

Holy blue! I’m on a blue/turquoise kick lately and WOW!  I saw this in the store and couldn’t believe that was the color in the bottle.  I thought it was wrapped in a different color plastic or something.  If you find it or have it, I think you know what I mean.  Naturally, I had to add it to my collection.

I guess you could classify this as a “jelly” polish.  Forgive me, I have a nail polish blog but am totally not up on the lingo.  Holos, hex, bar, jelly, whatever guys!  It’s all nail polish!  I DO know a jelly is that kinda see-through pretty stuff that you need like, five coats to fully cover your nails – good for the jelly sammiches that I wanted to try…andeventually will. 

It’s a speed-dry polish too and it really dries super fast!  The only thing I don’t like about it is it dries matte so I HAD to put a topcoat on in.  I don’t know about y’all, but any time I put a topcoat on is always when I end up smudging, so I try to stay away from it.  Nothing wrong with mattes, but I just thought it would be shiny – and I think it looks prettier like this.

I used two coats of Royal and a topcoat.  By Wednesday I had a lot of chips.  I will, however, blame that on Tequila Tuesdays when my friend and I split two pitchers of margaritas and a shot of tequila each.  Got a little outta control there for a couple hours.  You know tequila, no explanations are necessary ;)

Marshmallow Coke and L'OREAL "Now You Sea Me"

When I'm not on my random Bloody Mary kicks, I ONLY drink sweet things.  This is one of those verrrry sweet ones.  Marshmallow Coke guys!  Three letters: Y - U - M!!! I always knocked the stuff because I don't even like marshmallows, but they were giving away free samples so I couldn't pass it up.  And look at me now - I'm in love!  The brand is called "Poppin'" and the flavor is Marshmallow Puff.  I've seen other brands like Smirnoff and Pinnacle (spelling? I'm not sure...you know what I'm talking about), but this was the cheapest and I knew I liked it.  I had no idea what to mix it with at first.  The man at Total Wine (my heaven - ALLLL types of liquor everywhere!) told me to try it with Root Beer or Coke.  I tried both and Coke was my favorite.  I didn't think I could taste the marshmallow enough in the Root Beer.

• Marshmallow Vodka
• Coke 
• Ice

Make It!

Come on, do you really need directions??  My only tip: I'd start out adding the vodka slowly because if you overdo it, it gets way too sweet!

You can most definitely drink this plain as a shot.  Be careful though, it sneaks up on ya! ;)

L'OREAL Now You Sea Me

First off, I'll say my Seche Clear hypothesis is correct!  I did not use it as a base coat again and I had no unusual chipping.  I'll reserve it for when I use glitters.  

No fancy designs or anything special this week, just the pretty color.  I got a lot of compliments on it.  Its a gorgeous teal color, kind of similar to Essie Turquoise and Caicos.  I drove around to four stores to find it.  Totally worth the gas!

This is my first time trying L'OREAL nail polish and I like it a lot! Okay, I actually LOVE it!  It went on in two coats perfectly.  I didn't get around to putting a top coat on and I had no chipping at all.  I painted them last Friday - its now Sunday and they look great - except where my nails are growing out, obvs! ;)  I will definitely be purchasing more of their polishes!

Giligan's Island and Summer Nails

Happy Weekend!  I'm sorry I've been slacking so bad on these posts!  Goodness.  This weekend's drink is called a Gilligan's Island.

You'll Need

• Vodka
• OJ
• Cranberry Juice
• Peach Schnapps
• Ice

Make It!

Pour some (a lot..?) vodka in a large glass.  Add half as much schnapps, then a little OJ and cranberry.  This drink was really good!  Even though I added too much OJ at first, it was really refreshing.  I love peach flavored anything so this was right up my alley.  Random side note - when it sat for a little bit, it started to taste like Snapple peach tea, so if you like that, this is similar!  I didn't bother taking a pic this time, it doesn't look like anything but a glass of OJ.

Summer Nails

I started out wanting to try a "Jelly Sandwich" (paint a see-through color as a base, then glitter, then the same color over top of the glitter so it looks "trapped"), BUT it was Memorial weekend so we went to visit my grandparents and I was too busy to finish.

Pet My Peacock, and two coats Milani Yellow Whiz

 I'm really surprised how awesome these polishes were.  I'm always skeptical when I see "fast dry" polishes (the Milani was High Speed Fast Dry one coat formula)...but this stuff was great!  It really was good in one coat, but I smudged it twice so I just said EFF it and painted over instead of taking it off.  The Confetti brand wasn't advertised as fast dry, but I think it dried quicker than the Milani.

My little experiment worked - it IS the Seche Clear that makes my polish chip.  These didn't chip or peel.  I still have it on my fingers and the only chips that are there are from me peeling the glitter off when i was bored.  I'll try it out again because maybe it was the formulas for these polishes, but iiiiiii don't think so.

Pineapple-Mango-Tini and Essie "No More Film"

Happy Weekend Y’all! So sorry I didn’t post yesterday...I got sidetracked.  But  it’s a long weekend, so technically, I’m on schedule! Anyways, this weekend’s drink is a Pineapple-Mango-Tini. Yuuuum! I know the ingredients sound hard to find and expensive, but keep reading!  I am keeping my cheap-o promise.

You’ll Need

• Absolut Mango Vodka*
• Mango Nectar
• Pineapple Juice
• Ice – maybe

Make It!

This recipe started out as a martini, but you’ve seen how my measurements go, so it ended up being a large drink in a regular glass.  If you want to keep it an actual martini, here are the REAL measurements: 2 oz. Vodka, 2 oz. Mango Nectar, and 1 oz. Pineapple Juice.  Play with it guys, it’s just a drink – you can’t go wrong. 

Okay so back to the little “*” by the Absolut.  I had some extra hanging around from like, my 21^st Birthday, so I wanted to use it up.  This is the only drink I’ve ever made with the stuff and it is amazeballs, for lack of a better word.  I only had 2 drinks worth of the Absolut left, then I switched back to my Red Cup vodka and I really could barely tell the difference.  The mango vodka just makes the drink sweeter.

Now, MANGO NECTAR: WTF? Is this girl crazy?  I had never heard of it before and it took me forever to finally find it.  If you’re wondering where to get this, try the ethnic food section in your grocery store (it might also be called mango puree).  AND it's only about $3 for a carton. I live in Florida, so we have a ton of weird Spanish-people food/drinks around.  If you can’t find it...I don’t know what to tell you, besides you’re missing out!  But you can come to my house and I’ll make it for you! lol :)

Essie No More Film Manicure

I kept this week’s mani pretty basic.  I absolutely love any Essie color, so I will TRY not to be biased when I talk about them.

This color is SO AWESOME!! At first you think it’s a dark blue, but then you get into the sun and it turns a weird purple-indigo, THEN you get inside and it looks almost black!  I caught myself just staring at it a bunch of times trying to figure out how to best describe it and that’s what I came up with.  You just gotta get it for yourself and try it because these pictures do not do it justice!

Essie like, never chips on me, but this time it did.  I am totally blaming the Seche Clear basecoat.  For next week’s mani I’m not going to use a base coat and see if I get chippage.  The last two times I have used it, my nails have chipped like crazy. :(

Cranberry Smashed and Tiffany’s Nails

Hey y’all! I hope everyone had a great week. I know I’m glad it’s almost the weekend!  My Drink of the Week (I guess I should change it to Weekend) is called a Cranberry Smashed – it’s a twist on the regular vodka-cranberry.

You’ll Need:

·         Vodka

·         Cranberry Juice

·         Ginger Ale

·         Ice

Make It!

(Pretty self-explanatory guys…I shouldn’t need to say, but here ya go!) Put the ice in the cup, add the vodka (a few glugs – you be the judge), then fill the rest of the cup with ½ cranberry and ½ ginger ale. 

I like this drink because the ginger ale tones down the sour of the cranberry…and I just like fizzy drinks! :)

Tiffany’s Nails

First I applied the Seche Clear basecoat (pictured in my previous “Weekend Haul” post) because I will be putting glitter polish on (which, as you may already know, is incredibly hard to remove).  I heard it was the best basecoat and that you can practically peel the glitter off when you’re ready to take it off – we shall see!

After that was dry, I applied two coats of China Glaze For Audrey.  I hadn’t planned on doing anything special with this manicure, I was just going to leave them plain since I did the nail art last week….but I got a crazyyyy idea.  This stuff looks JUST like a Tiffany’s box! So, what else would I do but add some silver sparkle (Essie Shine Of The Times) and a little white bow stamp?  It just made sense guys! :)  After everything, I finished it off with a topcoat so the bow stamp would last longer.

Now, as freakin amazeballs as they look, I am NOT happy with this China Glaze polish…AT ALL!!  It was so gloopy and thick.  It took F O R E V E R to completely dry before I could stamp the bows and put the glitter coat on.  It got a million bubbles once it did finally dry, so my nails are all bumpy (most annoying thing ever!  I’m really OCD about bumps/bubbles/smudges/chips etc.).  Speaking of chips, two of my nails chipped the next day.  I have never had polish chip on me that fast.  Maybe it was the Seche basecoat, because I really did peel half of my thumbnail’s polish off.  I will give it another try because I’m seriously in love with this color, but if it does the same thing again, I’m going to be really disappointed.  This was my first time using China Glaze (as a “regular” polish – I have the crackle stuff, which honestly has the best crackle effect I’ve found so far), so it was a double bummer for me.  Maybe I just got a bad bottle…who knows?? :(
