Mojito (made with Vodka!?) and O.P.I “ Deutsch You Want Me Baby?”

One more week down!  Since it is officially Fall, I wanted to show you something that seems to be the “in” thing for the season – metallic polish!  Also, I have a mojito recipe made with vodka, because sometimes, rum just makes me really  really mean.

I tried this drink while I was out one day and it was so good!  They called it a “motito” because it was made with Tito’s vodka – great vodka by the way.  I’m almost out of my Red Cup and I think I’ll be buying Tito’s as a replacement.  Anyways, it’s a delish drink for all of you wanting to hold on to summer just a liiiittle longer.

You’ll Need:
Vodka
Mint Leaves
Fresh Lime Wedges
Lime Juice (if you want to make it more lime-y)
Simple Syrup* (Master of Mixes Simple Syrup)
Sprite
Ice

Make It!
Muddle two lime wedges and about 5 mint leaves in a glass.  Add a dash of simple syrup.  Add some vodka; glug glug glug…oh hey what’s that over there?  Oops my glass is half full of vodka!  Usually how my measuring goes.  Fill the rest of the glass with ice then top with Sprite.

*I also bought lime flavored syrup (its good for margaritas the bottle said) and used it instead of the simple syrup.  It was pretty good.

O.P.I Deutsch You Want Me Baby?
Apparently the cool thing for Fall is metallics.  My mom bought this for herself and I kinda ended up stealing it from her - shhh!  I don't normally like metallic polish.  I think I have three total, not including the other colors from the collection I'm going to steal from her this weekend lol :)  So anywho this is a very pretty metallic orange that would make an amazeballs color for a Camaro!!

It went on "perfect" in two coats.  I say "perfect" because I could kinda see brush strokes and that annoys me because I'm OCD like that.  I added one more coat the next day to make it even darker (not pictured because I smudged them...of course) =\

Have a great weekend lovelies!

Don't forget about my 100 Facebook Like giveaway!  Tell your friends to go like my page! If I can get to 100 by the end of the weekend, I will select a second place winner, prize to be determined.  And I'll probably add another polish or two in addition to the ones shown below for the first place winner! :)

Cake Jell-O Shots and Chaos & Crocodiles “Underwater Treasure”

Woohoo another week almost over!  I’ve got a cake vodka Jell-O shot recipe and an awesome indie polish to show y’all.

Now, I didn’t actually make these Jell-O shots, because, like most people, I have had prior terrible experiences with them.  **Flashback to Peanut Island on the boat taking about six Jell-O shots then drinking anything I could get my hands on in the span of about 30 minutes.  Those things hit like a ton of bricks…it was a very long day and night, we’ll just leave it at that.**  Anywho, my IG friend Brianna texts me during the Alabama college football games and tells me to take shots with her every time Alabama gets a TD (since I usually can’t get the game on my TV).  Well, the first time, plain shots didn’t get her hammerfied enough, so she asked me to post a Jell-O shot recipe made with cake vodka.  I went to Pinterest and this is the simplest recipe I came across.  The link to the blog where I got the recipe can be found here, or I just copied and pasted for you below.

You’ll Need:
2/3 cup cream soda
2/3 cup cranberry juice cocktail
1 tbsp heavy cream
2 envelopes plain gelatin*
2/3 cup cake-flavored vodka
Few drops food coloring, if desired
Whipped cream - fresh or store-bought
Sprinkles for garnish

Make It!
Lightly spray the mold with non-stick spray and wipe excess off with a paper towel.  Don't overdo it or the residue will affect the taste of the Jell-O.**  Pour the soda, juice, and cream into a medium saucepan and sprinkle the gelatin on top. Allow the gelatin to soak for 2-3 minutes, then begin to heat on low, stirring constantly until gelatin is fully dissolved (about 5 minutes).  Remove saucepan from heat and add vodka and food coloring.  Pour into molds and chill for several hours, or until set.  Remove from mold, top with whipped cream, and enjoy responsibly!

*The original recipe suggests 2-3 envelopes, depending on how long your Jell-O shots will be left out (more gelatin for more time).

**Her instructions call for those silicone molds that look like cupcakes.  You can use whatever you normally do for Jell-O shots, they just won’t be as cute as her pictures.

Lovely Miss B used only vodka as her liquid and some food coloring.  We strongly advise against this.  In her words:“Very important note to self: use another liquid besides JUST vodka next time.  Jell-O shots should NOT require a chaser”

It's so cute!

Chaos & Crocodlies Underwater Treasure over Revlon Royal
AHH!  This!!  There is so much to look at in this polish!  Little dark and light blue, green, teal, orange and red hex glitter, smaller light blue square, and of course the big round gold meant to look like treasure!  You see something different every time you look at it.  I thought Revlon Royal was a good base color ("undies").  I used two coats of undies and two coats of Underwater Treasure, then two coats of clear - so.much.dry.timeeeee!!  Even with my drying drops.  But I'm the dummy that didn't let each coat dry in between.  I could have gotten away with one coat of the glitter, but as we all know, more glitter = better!! So I slapped a second coat on.  I had no application issues.  It was a little gritty feeling, so that's why I put two coats of clear on, but after that it was nearly perfect.

This polish was $10.50 a bottle - YIKESSS!  But again, totally worth the money.  Other full size bottles go for $9.75 and minis $4.75.

Awesomesauceballz!  Love love love!  I also ordered Haunted Attraction from Chaos & Crocodiles.  I can't wait til it's October so I can wear it out! :)

Go on over and visit Chaos & Crocodiles' Etsy Shop and like their Facebook Page for updates!

Let me & Brianna know if you try these Jell-O shots (and actually FOLLOW the recipe)!! We want to know if they're good with the cranberry juice!  Seems like a weird combo - cranberry and cake...??

Have a good weekend lovelies! :)

#HOLYSHITBALLZANDGLITTER!!! Black Cat Lacquer "Doomsday"

There is only one word to describe this polish: HOLYSHITBALLZANDGLITTER!!  (I'm quite proud of my hashtag on instagram)  Like, wow guys!! Black Cat Lacquer totally nailed this polish (gay pun, not intentional – sorry!)  I love chunky gold glitters anyways, so I was sold as soon as I saw a bottle shot.  Doomsday is chunky hex, bar, holo…like, anything you could possibly want in a gorgeous glitter polish.  The application was great, and with my Nicole Drying Drops (sold at Target by the polish) the drying time was quick too!  I layered two coats of Doomsday over one coat of Essie Licorice.  I seriously want to use this every day.   I can’t wait until Christmas when I can put it over reds and greens to make it all Christmas-y.  Actually, I’ll probably do it now anyways :)  $9.00 for a full size bottle, +$3.00 shipping…a little pricey for my liking, but SOOOO completely worth it!!

Sweet Red Sangria and Revlon Peachy

Happy Friday!  I have a yum-yum in the tum-tum Red Sangria recipe for you today!  Also one of my new favorite polishes, Revlon Peachy that you got a preview of on Monday :)

So, last Friday I was majorly craving some sangria.  I LOOOOVE Applebee’s recipe, and I think this is sort of similar.  (This is a by-the-glass recipe, not a pitcher’s worth.)

You’ll Need:
Red Wine (Barefoot Sweet Red is my all-time favorite)
Cranberry Juice
OJ (I accidentally bought pineapple-OJ, but it’s still delish)
Peach Schnapps
3-4 Mint Leaves, muddled
Ice Cubes (if ingredients aren’t already cold)

Make It!
Gently muddle the mint leaves in your wine glass.  Fill glass a little more than half way full with wine.  Add a splash of cranberry and OJ.  Add one good glug of Schnapps.  Add a few ice cubes.

Revlon Peachy Mani with a Hard Candy Matte Topcoat

A while ago I saw this manicure on Pinterest and was DYING to find the perfect pink/orange/coral/peach polish.  The one shown on her blog is NYX Naked Pink.  I can’t find that brand, but this Revlon looks pretty darn close to me!  The pictures I took above make it look a little more orange than it actually is.  The bottle shot is a little more accurate to the true color.
L: Hard Candy Matte Topcoat (one is up for grabs with my FB giveaway)
R: Revlon Peachy
I don’t know why I haven’t bought Revlon polish before now.  I kind of always thought it was an “old lady” polish because my mom used to have it when I was little (I guess I should say “grown up” polish, because I’M NOT AN OLD LADY – I don’t really want to be a grown up either, but it’s better than “old”).  Anyways, the formula is really great and they actually have a lot of pretty colors (flashback to my mom’s reds and flesh-tone polishes from when I was five and wanted bright pinks).  Also they have some cool glitter polishes – both jelly and cream formulas.  I have Scandalous(black jelly with purple glitter) and Popular (light cream pink with silver glitter) that I can’t wait to swatch!  As you see, it is "top speed' quick dry.  Yes, yes it is.  Perfect for my impatient little self! :)  It was almost perfect with one coat.  Two made it even better.

I hadn't used my matte topcoat in forever, so I decided to slap in on top of this.  If you haven't used matte polish before, beware.  It kinda sucks =\  If you don't let it dry completely before applying another coat, it gets super globby, pulls, and makes ugly ridges.  BUT, on the plus side, it also dries quickly!

Different Dimension "Social Suicide"

AS PROMISED (many times): a Jelly Sammich Manicure!!!!  Patience is a virtue (that I hate) and my patience finally paid off!  I got this uh-may-zing China Glaze blue jelly on sale for $3.29 at Sally Beauty Supply.  It's called Ride the Waves.  I'm gonna sound like a complete child (I really don't care), but this color totally reminds me of the blue jellyfish on the SpongeBob SquarePants show.  Good Ol' No-Name.

Haha anywayssssss, since I found this amazeballs jelly, I was FINALLY ready to give you a jelly sammich.  I was about to go for my Essie Set in Stones, but then I remembered I got this sweet polish from Different Dimension called Social Suicide off of Etsy.  She has a whole Mean Girls movie line including Boo, You Whore, That’s So Fetch, and On Wednesday’s We Wear PINK.  Totally LOVE the looks of all of them and can’t wait to order more :) But, back to the Social Suicide.  It’s a black and white glitter polish with teensy squares and different size hex glitters.  It was $8.50 for a normal sized .5 oz. bottle.  Oh my.  I just want to put it on everythingggg!  (I apologize in advance for the crap-tastic quality of my pics.  I am in desperate need of a new phone/camera, but if you check out her Etsy shop, linked below, she has great quality pics!)

*Gasp* totally love!  So, as with all jelly sammiches, I started out with one coat of China Glaze Ride the Waves.  Then, let it dry completely (stupid patience again).  Then I put one coat of Social Suicide and let THAT dry completely.  And finally, one more coat of Ride the Waves

Malibu Red and September’s Julep Maven Box

Happy (Almost) Weekend!  I can’t believe it’s already September!  This year is totally flying by.  Anywho, I have a simple drink recipe ahead and THE prettiest manicure evaaaa!  (Well, not really ever but I am sooooo in love with it)

This drink – hold on to your bikini top cuz it will fly right off!!  I bought a little sample shot bottle of Malibu Red a while ago because, hi, coconut liqueur, rum and tequila is riiiiiiight up my alley.  I never knew what to mix it with, but it was so painfully obvious once I finally figured it out.

You’ll Need:
Malibu Red (seriously, go buy the whole bottle, trust me, you’ll be sad after the first sip that you only got the little sample shot)
Pineapple Juice (I bought the little six pack of mini cans – perfect drink size)
Ice

Make It!
If you can’t figure out how to put it together, you should not be drinking.

Julep Maven – September Box Hoch and Eileen

Julep  Eileen and Hoch

Two coats Julep Hoch, two coats Julep Eileen

Oh.  My.  God.  Becky….Look.  At that color!  Love at first sight!!  When I got the email from Julep telling me what colors I’d be receiving, I was so stoked.  Hoch is the prettiest green that I now own.  A crème emerald color that is seriously to.die.for!  You’re getting flooded with pictures because I just couldn’t get enough of it.  Eileen is just white.  Not much to say.

I went to Sally Beauty Supply over the weekend to see if they had anything good on sale.  I found this pretty Orly (Watch It Glitter) for $3 and some change.  Couldn’t pass that deal up!  I thought it would look fallish to put over the white.

I really am in love with Julep’s formula for polish.  Most of the time it’s a one coat wonder polish – that barely EVER happens!  I’ve gotten two boxes from Julep so far and I am SOOOO glad I signed up for it.  They really don’t compare to any other brand.  It’s kicked out Essie as my favorite now (sad day, I know), but ONLY because it applies like a dream.  I still love Essie’s colors more (for now).

**WARNING** my feet are pictured below - if you hate feet, don't look!

OPI Thanks A Windmillion Pedicure
Oh my, I broke my number one rule - NO GREEN POLISH ON TOES.  I just think it makes you look like you have a disgusting fungus growing on your nails.  BUT this isn't a fungusy green (so attractive, I know).  Thanks A Windmillion like a smoky light grey green kind of color.  I got it at Ulta a week or so ago and was going to paint it on my nails, until my Julep box came in...so to the toes it went!  Two coats was perfect, no topcoat, as usual.
