Swatch Tuesday! A Rhyming Dictionary * Betsy Bobbin

So, I know the popular hashtag on IG is #SwatchSunday, but I figured I’d spread my posts out more than just on the weekends.  For my first swatch, I have A Rhyming Dictionary’s Betsy Bobbin

This stuff is so cute!  What really caught my eye were the big black circle glitters in it.  Besides those, Betsy Bobbin is packed with (all matte) micro light and dark pink square, medium orange and green hex, and larger blue hex glitters in a clear base.  LOVE!  I swatched it over O.P.I’s Don’t Pretzel My Buttons.  I wanted to do a nude color for undies to show off the prettiness of all the colors in the polish.

I had a little problem getting the black circle glitters to come out on the brush.  After each nail, I had to shake up the bottle to try to catch some.  It’s surprisingly runny for the amount of glitter in there.  I used two coats of ARD’s polish over one coat of O.P.I.  Betsy Bobbin has a LONG drying time.  Yes, I am impatient, but even with my drying drops they were still getting smudged/wrinkly after an hour. :(  Definitely a positive; it wasn’t sandy/gritty like most indies with the micro glitter.

I bought Betsy Bobbin from A Rhyming Dictionary’s Etsy shop ($7.50 for a full sized bottle, + shipping).  Make sure to like them on Facebook too!

(sorry this lighting is SO horrible - I'm in the process of making a real light box)

Key West Cocktail and The Hungry Asian's "Sea Creature"

Happy Friday!  Today I have a yummy twist on a vodka-cran and a super glittery indie polish made by The Hungry Asian.  I started out drinking this as a joke because this guy I was talking to would ALWAYS order vodka-crans, which, hello, are girly drinks!  But anyways, I started drinking them as a joke with my boss and then we actually really started to like them.

You’ll Need:
Vodka
Cranberry Juice
5-8 Mint Leaves
Ice

Make It!
Muddle the mint in a glass, add ice, vodka, and cranberry.  Yum!  It’s KINDA like a festive holiday drink…cranberry, mint, red, green…?  Ehh its tasty anyways!

Essie No More Film and The Hungry Asian Sea Creature
I’m getting SOO obsessed with indies lately, its sucking the money right out of my bank account!  I usually go to Etsy to look for random things whenever I’m bored and with my love of all things nautical, I always end up looking at some anchor or octopus thing.  Well imagine my surprise when I saw this cute little bottle of Sea Creature on my screen!  I wasn’t even looking for nail polish, so I figured it had to be a sign from the Polish Gods that I needed this stuff!  I’m so glad I bought it – ahh!  I’ve never gotten so many compliments on polish before.

blurred to show glittery goodness
I've posted about No More Film before (here and here), so I won’t go in to huge detail again, but it’s basically the best polish evarrrr!  One coat wonder and the prettiest purple/blue/ink/indigo color.  It makes perfect undies for Sea Creature, which is PACKED with micro green, small turquoise hex, and just a hint of magenta square and silver holo hex (I THINK there might be some black – or very dark blue hex in there too).  It would have been fine to do only one coat of glitter, but more is always better, so I did two.  Then I used a Revlon fast dry topcoat.  It was only the slightest bit gritty, but I didn't feel like doing another clear coat, so I didn't and it didn't bother me at all.  Great polish, I didn't have any application issues and it lasted me all week, just wore off a little on the tips, which I’m gonna blame on doing the dishes every night!

Check out The Hungry Asian’s Etsy shop!  I can’t wait to order Belle and Mint Condition (after payday of course lol)!  Minis go for $4.50; full sized are $9.25.

Don’t forget about my giveaway (for my instagram followers only)!  It ends October 31 at 7pm EST!  Here’s a link to my post with all the details.  You still have a couple days left to enter!

Have a great weekend lovelies and slut it up if you’re goin out for any Halloween parties!! ;P

(this is for the dude! ;P)

Pink Mani for Breast Cancer Awareness

Well, with it being October and all, I figured I had to at least do one pink mani for breast cancer awareness.  No super special drink this time, just some wine that I've been trying forever to find.

This week’s drink is from one of my favorite brands.  Okay, it’s the only brand I buy.  Barefoot.  In my love of all things sweet to drink, of course moscato is my favorite kind of wine.  I had heard rumors that there was such a thing as red moscato and I've wanted to try it out forever.  I had seen another brand with it but I was skeptical because it wasn't my brand.  Welp, sometimes patience DOES pay off.  One day as I was moseyin’ through the wine section in Target, I saw it – Red Moscato – on sale no less.  It was like a sign or something.  So I scooped up a bottle and merrily skipped to the nail polish aisle.  Just kidding.  No matter how happy I was, there is no way you can get me to skip in public.  Anywho, I think I psyched myself up for it to be the best tasting wine I've ever had because I waited so long for it.  It was pretty good, but I actually prefer the regular moscato.

Pink Mani
L-->R: Lush Lacquer Pink Panther, Essie Mod Square, Essie French Affair
This is one of my all-time favorite pinks; Essie French Affair.  It’s SO girly and cute.  I barely ever use it because I don’t want to run out.  On the accent nail is Essie Mod Square.  I don’t know what was up with the polish because it got all bubbly.  I think I didn't wash the drying drops all the way off.  Other than that, there were no issues.  Two coats for full coverage.  Over the top is one coat of Lush Lacquer’s Pink Panther. Their formula is a little thick, but I didn't put a topcoat on and it didn't feel all sandy like some glitters do.

Pink Panther has a clear base with large white hex, medium white and black hex, and a mix of smaller white, pink matte and shiny pink glitters.

I've heard mixed reviews about Lush Lacquer.  I personally like the polish so far, although it did take a fair amount of time (I want to say almost two weeks) to get my polish.  I ordered the choose three minis for $14.25 (+$3.75 shipping = $18 total).  In addition to Pink Panther, I also bought Party Rockin' and Hottie Tottie (they must be out, I couldn't find it in their shop).

You can visit Lush Lacquer's Etsy or check out their Facebook.

Sweet Tea Lemonade and Sparkly Halloween Nails

Happy Friday Lovelies!!  Hope y’all had a good week.  If you got Monday off, I’m super jealous of you!  Anywho, today I have an alcoholic twist on an Arnold Palmer and a sparkly GLOWING mani for you!

Being from South Florida, I loooove me some sweet tea.  Now, not so South that everyone is speaking Spanish – I’m like a Northern-Southerner.  If this doesn’t make sense to you, you clearly have never been to Florida.  (The more North you go in Florida, the more “Southern” it gets.  The more South you go, the more “Cuban” it gets.  I’m just East of Lake Okeechobee, so I consider myself Semi-Southern :)  Enough of my mini geography lesson.  On to the drink!

You’ll Need:
Sweet Tea Vodka (I bought Burnette’s, but I’ve heard Firefly is also a great brand)
Lemonade
Ice

Make It!
Cup.  Ice.  Half lemonade, half vodka.

I was introduced to this great drink that one time I talked about on Peanut Island when I had all the Jell-O shots (I still remember this part, amazingly).  Be very careful.  You really really really can’t taste the alcohol.  I drank three before I realized that the “sweet tea” was really vodka.  But its crazy good.  If you’re in for a long day/night of drinking maybe scale back the amounts – a lot! Lol

Glow In The Dark Mani with Different Dimension Candied Corn

What’s more festive than glow in the dark nails for Halloween!?  I saw this polish on Etsy a while back and knew I had to have them!  But at $10 for a full sized bottle I said ehhhh and went with three minis for $11 + shipping (I THINK that was the price - when I went back to check, the minis weren't available, must be sold out.  It MIGHT have been $13). Candied Corn is definitely my favorite of the three (others are Ectoplasm and Smashing Pumpkins - see bottle shots below).  It looks like it has a yellow tint to the base, but I’m assuming that is from the glow in the dark stuff, because it dried clear, as you see.  It’s packed with mini white and silver holo squares, orange and matte white small hex AND large white hex (that’s kind of pearly looking).  The only thing bad about this particular polish is it doesn't glow so well.  I stood with my fingers directly under a light for two minutes and it wasn't bright enough to take a picture of :( It glows green.  I did two coats of Sally Hansen Onyx with one coat of Candied Corn then a quick dry topcoat.  A day later I added Ulta’s Ghoul's Night Out but I can't for the life of me get a good picture of it either.  But it is definitely brighter.

It glows!! :D

Check out Different Dimension’s Etsy shop and like them on Facebook!  They’re having an awesome sale one day - Saturday Oct 13 from 12pm EST - Sunday Oct 14 at 12pm EST.  $5 - 24 hour sale!   Great deal for great polish!

OH! Annnnd here is a link to the Coterie website again.  I got a link to share, so if you needed a super-secret code last time, now you don't!

Have a great weekend lovelies! :)

Radioactive Martini and a butterLONDON Mani

Sorry for the later than usual post!  Keeping with my Halloween inspired posts for October, I have a festive martini for you (since my mani isn’t Halloween-y).  It’s a little twist on my Apple-Tini.  Since I have a lot of pineapple juice left from my Malibu Red drink – which is still one of my favorites – I wanted to add that to my martini.  It turned out so delicious and as a plus, it looks spooky! :)

You’ll Need:
Vodka
Apple Mixer
Pineapple Juice
Ice
Sugar for the rim (if you wanna be fancy-schmancy)

Make It!
In a shaker, add ice, three parts vodka, two parts apple mixer, and one part pineapple juice.  Shake and strain into your glass.  Whew.  THAT was a hard one!  Looks like its glowing green, ehh??

I didn’t feel like looking like Miss White Trash Class drinking in my garage out of a martini glass – although I HAVE done it before – so I used this glass instead.  It’s also bigger than a martini glass, so it can fit more vodka!  Always a plus.

butterLONDON All Hail the Queen and Wallis Manicure
I finally got all my bL polish from Ulta (the BOGO deal – snagged four for $28…I think) and the Coterie deal (three and a topcoat for $11) yeah, pretty amazeballz.

I lahhhved All Hail the Queen right away and just HAD to use it.  Originally I did my accent nail with just Essie Smokin' Hot, but then I wanted Wallis too, so I slapped that on top.

All Hail the Queen is a nude color BUT it has schaweeet fine holo shimmer.  It was super classy and really pretty. Wallis ahh how to describe this one…I don’t like it without undies.  I think it looks like gross swamp water.  The base is a brown-blackish-greeny weirdness.  The gold shimmer is gorgeous though.  I think of Tyra saying its ‘Ugly-Pretty’ like she did on ANTM one time lol.  It looks best over a dark color.  I’ll have to experiment with other colors under it.  I think it looks great with this Essie though.

These are my first butterLONDONs and I’m happy with them overall.  The formula held up okay – I did my nails Saturday then washed my car on Sunday and only had two tiny casualties.  However, it started chipping by Wednesday. ;(  I didn’t have any application issues.  I originally did two coats, but then I added another one after I washed my car.  No topcoats.

Here are all the bLs I got:
L->R: Trout Pout, Slapper,
Knackered,
and Henley Regatta
(from the Ulta BOGO deal)

L->R: All Hail The Queen, Wallis,
Bluey
 and a Hardwear Topcoat
(from Coterie)
Thank you to all my Facebook Likers!!  I finally broke the 100 mark – and now I’m pretty close to 150!  I have already held my giveaway and will be mailing out the prizes tomorrow!  I will be doing another giveaway probably around November or December.  I think on my instagram this time (@TipsyTipsNailsandCocktails) if you don’t already follow me on there.

Oh, and if you’re like WTF is Coterie?!!  I have linked the website here.  I’m not sure if you still need a super-secret code to get in, but if you do, I used OBSESSEDVIP.

Happy weekend lovelies!  See you Wednesday(ish?) for my next Halloween mani post!
