SHOTS ALL AROUND!! Two More Days of 2012! Long Island Iced Tea Jell-O Shots

Oh the horror!  JELL-O SHOT TIME!! :D
Photo found here.

To make Long Island Iced Tea Jell-o Shots,
You'll Need:
1 1/2 cups Diet Coke
1/4 cup Lemon Simple Syrup (I have the lime flavor, I've never seen lemon, but I've never really looked.)
3 Envelopes Knox Gelatin
1/4 cup Vodka
1/4 cup Gin
1/4 cup Rum
1/4 cup Tequila
1/4 cup Triple Sec

Make It!
Combine Diet Coke and syrup in a medium saucepan.  Sprinkle with the gelatin.  Heat on low until the gelatin is dissolved, stirring constantly for about 5 minutes.  Remove from heat and add alcohol.  Stir well.  The recipe says to place the mix in a 9x9 pan and let sit overnight, then cut into circles and skewer the shots, like in the picture.  I'd rather do them as shots...but that's just me.  This makes 50 small Jell-O shots.

Swatch Tuesday! Different Dimension * Curiosity

Guys!  You remember my first #HOLYSHITBALLZANDGLITTER!!! post with Black Cat Lacquer Doomsday?  Well, Different Dimension Curiosity is it's cousin.  This polish has a black jelly base with TONS of small and large silver holo hex glitters.
Two coats Different Dimension Curiosity over
one coat Sally Hansen Onyx
I did two coats Different Dimension Curiosity over one coat Sally Hansen Onyx.  It was surprisingly hard to get the large hex glitters out.  Had to do a lot of shaking, rolling and fishing.  Other than that, the application was great.  Dry time wasn't too bad either.
Two coats Different Dimension Curiosity over
one coat Sally Hansen Onyx

This stuff is great because no matter which way you look at it, you will see tons of different colors!

Christmas Dip-Dye Nails

Merry Christmas Eve!  Today I have some festive nail art for you.

I had seen Rylee (@WickedNails on IG) post a few dip-dye manis and I loved the look.  I saw this tutorial on Pinterest a while back so I finally decided to try it out; mostly because I was too lazy to do an actual design lol

Its pretty simple.  Just paint your nails a base color.  Draw messy lines with your light color with a small nail art (or paint) brush.  Then more messy lines with your darker color.  I slapped on some glitter just for festive purposes ;)
Without glitter

*GASP* My rarely seen right hand!!  This design is so simple
you can even do it on your dominant hand.  I actually think this
looks better than my left hand.

Base: Julep Eileen

Reds (light to glitter): Essie Head Mistress, Berry Naughty, and Leading Lady

Greens (light to glitter) China Glaze Def Defying, Julep Hoch, and Essie Beyond Cozy
all topped with Seche Vite.

Baileys Cherry Cafe and Two Holo Polishes

Hello Lovelies!  Today I have a yummy Baileys drink and a two-fer of some awesome holo polish for you! :)

To make a Baileys Cherry Cafe,
You'll Need:
2 oz. Baileys with a hint of Coffee
1/2 oz. Captain Morgan
Dash Maraschino Cherry Juice
Cinnamon & Sugar (rim)

Make It!
Rim a martini glass with cinnamon sugar.  Drizzle the cherry juice into the glass.  Shake Baileys and Captain in a shaker with ice.  Strain into glass.  YUM!!

Base Coat Experiment, Liquid Sky Lacquer Give Me Some Sugar, and Cameo Colours Lacquers Smoldering Temptress
I am super excited about these polishes.  They are my first “real” holos that I have ever bought.  And let me tell you, they won’t be the last!!  But first!  I’m going to share my little experiment with you.

Seche Clear or Gelous: Which is a better base coat?
As you know, I am not a fan of Seche Clear (the base coat, I am not talking about Seche Vite, the top coat!).  I bought some Gelous a week or so back because I had seen some people using it and wanted to see what the fuss was about.
Seche Clear vs. Gelous:  Which is the Batter Base Coat?
I used Seche Clear on my right and Gelous on my left.  Seche Clear dried quickly, while Gelous stayed gummy for about ten minutes before fully drying.

After the base coats, I applied two coats of Liquid  Sky Lacquer Give Me Some Sugar.  This stuff is PACKED with super fine glitter, like the sandy kind.  That stuff NEVER chips.  After applying LSL, I let it dry and added two coats of Seche Vite (the top coat) to both hands.  Surprisingly it dried supa fast.  Strange, because in my last post about it, it took ages.  I guess the glitter soaked it up?  No tellin’.

Anywho, I went about my normal Saturday business after I did my nails, which isn’t much really…just playing with my Chihuahua, Sugar, and watching TV pretty much.  When I woke up in the morning, I checked out my nails.  Would you believe my right hand (Seche Clear) had TWO chips already?!  After LESS than a day, I had a chip on my middle and pinkie fingers.  W…T..F..?!

In conclusion:  If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
*Seche Clear still sucks,
*Gelous made it even harder to get the glitter off (I used the foil method discussed in this post), and
*I am reverting to my O.P.I. strengthening base coat that I used to use with every mani.

I had fully intended on posting only about LSL, but since it chipped in a day (totally the fault of the base, because my Gelous hand was just fine), I had to redo my mani…I would have gone crazy with chipped polish for a whole week.  I didn’t think it was fair to skip over the polish just because the base sucked, so y’all get a two-fer this week! :)

Liquid Sky Lacquer Give Me Some Sugar
Two coats Liquid Sky Lacquer Give Me Some Sugar
indoor, direct light
I saw this polish on Carolyn’s IG (@WhimsicalColor).  She said it was very limited edition and may be discontinued.  So I panicked and just HAD to go buy it.  (Following indie polish makers on IG + the Etsy app on your phone = dangerous.  You will be broke within a week.  I know.  lol)  But lucky for you, I believe she as restocked it.

As stated above, this polish is packed with super fine glitter of a few different colors.  The description on Etsy says “burgundy”, but when it’s on, it looks more lilac or light purple to me.  I tried staring at it to figure out all the colors, but it wigs out my eyes.  Anyways, there are tons of silver holo glitters and some red/burgundy also, I don’t know where I get the purple.  Be warned, it is very thick and somewhat difficult to apply.  But deal with it guys, because it’s like a fckn disco ball on your nails!!  I was putting it on outside in the “Nail Studio” (aka my driveway lol) where it was cloudy out.  I was a little disappointed that is wasn’t BAM-in-your-face-holo-shiny.  Well, I got inside under direct light, and WOW!  It was awesome!

I definitely recommend a topcoat or two with this because it is gritty when dry.

Cameo Colours Lacquers Smoldering Temptress
Two coats Cameo Colours Lacquers Smoldering Temptress over
one coat Essie A List
indoor, direct light
I also saw this polish on IG, but in a post from @LacquerLoon (she makes me want to buy EVERY polish she swatches!).  Smoldering Temptress is what you call a "linear" holographic polish, as opposed to "scattered" (Give Me Some Sugar is considered scattered).  I never knew there was a difference, but its pretty obvious when you see the pictures.

Smoldering Temptress is a violet red jelly base with holo-y goodness.  I did one coat Essie A List with two coats Cameo Colours Lacquers Smoldering Temptress with one coat Revlon fast dry top coat.  I had no application issues, but it did take a while to dry, even with the top coat.

Wasted Wednesday! What the Fack!?

Today's Wasted Wednesday is slightly different.  No drink recipe, just some weird, horrifyingly awesome thing.

As some of you know, my boyfriend recently deployed to Japan.  He sent me this picture Monday morning:

WHAT.  THE.  HELL!?!  I need this badassery in my lifeeeeee!!
He told me I should put it up as some random fact, but I thought that since we are in the midst of 12 Days of Cocktails, ya alcoholics can do with something cool instead of a W.W. post ;P

This is Habushu.  It's a kind of Japanese sake made in Okinawa.  The snake is a Japanese pit viper called a habu snake (similar to copperheads in the U.S.).
To learn how they get the snake in there, read this Wikipedia article (it might be kinda gross if you're squeamish, be warned).

This would make a much better birthday present than the previously discussed running shoes...cough cough!! ;)

12 Days of Christmas Cocktails! Day 6: Apple Pie Martini

Apple Pie Spice
Ice

Brain Eraser and Leopard Nail Art

Well, another week is almost over!  Today I have a drink called a Brain Eraser, which you will probably need if you go out and brave the malls this weekend.  Also I have some freehand leopard print nail art that I am super proud of!

You’ll Need:
1 oz. Goldschlager
1 oz. Kahlua
1 oz. Vodka

Make It!
In a large shot glass, combine ingredients.  The recipe says to keep the liqueur levels separate (aka pour them slowly to avoid mixing), and suck it up through a straw.  But no thanks,  I’ll just chug it all at once!

Freehand Leopard Nail Art with China Glaze Secret Peri-Wink-Le and Re-Fresh Mint
Let me just start out by saying I was never a huge fan of China Glaze’s polish.  Love their colors, but the first one I ever bought (For Audrey) absolutely SUCKED!!  The formula was so globby and it took forever to dry.  Apparently I got a bad bottle because everyone else raves about it.  Anyways, I have since bought more polish from China Glaze and the formula isn’t so bad.  I think Secret Peri-Wink-Le has restored my faith in the brand!  This stuff is perfect and a one coat wonder, even though I added another.  There was no bubbling, it was the perfect consistency – just ahhh!  The color is so adorable too; it’s a darker pastel blurple (blue + purple if you missed it before).  Re-Fresh Mint is also a great polish.  Almost a one coat wonder.  It was just a tad streaky, so I added a second coat.

Y’all know that I really want to attempt to improve my nail art so I don’t bore you guys and my IG followers, so here!  Be nice if you don’t think it’s good.  It’s my first try at freehand animal print!!  I am personally thrilled with it though, so poo poo if you don’t like it.  I got my inspiration form a girl I follow on IG (@noemihk), she does a lot of freehand leopard print designs and makes it look so easy and flawless!  I need lots of practice though!

Seche Vite
I did two coats Secret Peri-Wink-Le and two coats Re-Fresh Mint.  I used my large dotting tool to make the colored dots.  Then I used a medium sized one to make the black dots (using Sally Hansen Onyx).  Then I filled in the empty spaces with random dots using my tiny dotting tool.  I bought my dotting tools on Amazon for about five bucks – not including shipping.  There are five and they are double sided ranging in sizes from large to mini.  Great deal if you ask me.

Since this post is kind of about redemption for brands I don’t like, let’s discuss Seche.  Before, I bought the Seche Clear Base Coat.  Completely hated it (also used it with For Audrey in my Tiffany’s Nails post – that was just a bad polish day I guess).  It made the polish peel off my nail in one big sheet within a day or two of wear.  Great for glitter, but normal polish?  No.

I was hesitant to buy Seche Vite, the topcoat, but I finally gave in because EVERYONE praises it.  Peer pressure!  lol I normally avoid topcoats because I’m super impatient and always smudge it.  But this time, I just decided to go for it.  What a complete shocker!  A topcoat that I love??!  This stuff is great!  It’s smooth, thick (in a good way), and makes your nails look flawless, almost shellacked!  Although I have two teensy issues with it.  It’s supposed to be fast dry, but it was still kind of gummy after about five minutes (that’s the “fast” cutoff dry time for me).  It also smells.  BAD!! But you know what, I’ll deal with it because it looks that great.  When I dotted the design on , it was slightly raised and bumpy obviously, but after the Seche, completely smooth.  So, if you were like me and just kinda ehh about trying it, I HIGHLY suggest you stop dragging your feet and go get some!!  Not the base coat though.  That shiz suxxx!

Welp, I hope y’all are ready for the 12 Days of Christmas Cocktails I have comin’ your way!  First one will be up momentarily!  Enjoy :)

ALSO!! I want to say Happy 26th Anniversary to my mommy & daddy!  Yay! :) <3
